The competition is broken into three catagories: Novice, Intermediate & Expert.  See rules to determine standards for each catagory.

Novice

This catagory is not necessarily for new riders but to riders new to police motorcycle rodeo riding.  In the past, some new riders found the regular events too challenging and the presence of experienced riders intimidating.  To make these riders more comfortable, we have introduced special courses for them .  These modified courses take in some of the elements from the courses for the Intermediate and Expert riders will hopefully develop the rider in a way that they can develop the skills necessary to progress to the Intermediate/Expert courses.  These courses will be set up in an area separate from the Intermediate/Expert area and Intermediate/Expert riders will not be allowed on the course.  There will be an instructor at the course at all times and beginner riders will have their own separate competition on the Friday of the seminar which will consist of a continuous timed run through the three courses.

THE MAPLE LEAF FOREVER

The rider enters the gate then proceeds to make a complete 360° counterclockwise turn within the first circle before entering the second circle and making a  complete 360° clockwise turn then proceeding to the third circle and making another complete 360° counterclockwise turn before exiting through the top gate.  The rider may choose to use a clockwise/counterclockwise/clockwise sucession through the circles instead.

OTHER COURSE WILL BE POSTED LATER.

Intermediate/Expert

There are eight events in the Main Skills Competition.  The layout for each event is displayed below.  The illustrations show the course setup designed for Harley Davidson Electra Glides and Road Kings.  Other police motorcycles may be required to negotiate an altered course.

THE GREAT LAKES BREWERY SLOW RIDE

NEW FOR 2008 !!!!

The Great Lakes Police Motorcycle Training Seminar introduces

Motor Officer and Motorcycle Inspection Competition

There is probably no greater recognizable symbol of traffic safety then the image of a police motorcycle officer.

The police motorcycle uniform is the distinctive dress of a proud and honorable profession, and wearing the uniform should likewise be a matter of pride in self, department, and country.

Motorcycles have been utilized by police agencies for over 100 years as a valuable and useful tool in the performance of our duty.  An officer's motorcycle is an extension of the officer's appearance and reflects either positively or negatively on the image presented to the public.

Beginning in 2008 the GLPMTS will introduce a friendly and competitive event to measure the appearance and presentation of the police motorcycle officer and his or her machine.
