History Formerly known as the Greater Toronto Region Police Motorcycle Competition, the event first took place in 1999 and for the first two years was hosted by the Toronto Police Service. It was first held at the Canadian National Exhibition grounds before moving to an area near the Toronto Police Association in 2000. The site moves from year to year depending on the hosting agency.
In 2001, a decision was made to rename the event as the Great Lakes Police Motorcycle Training Seminar. The name change was implemented to better reflect the geographical area of the police services represented and to emphasize the training aspects of the event.
The 2000 event involved our first participants from the United States. Since that time, we have had participants attend from Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, Florida, New York, Ohio, Arizona, Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana and California. We have also had participants from British Columbia and Nova Scotia. In 2007, we had our first entrants from Quebec. The event continues to grow and we look forward to more participants in 2008 in Toronto.
